The group has been in existence for over ten years, although in its current six-member lineup – for only a year. In addition to their distinctive vocals, the band’s instrumentation includes Irish transverse flutes, whistle, bombard, fiddle, diatonic accordion, acoustic guitar, bouzouki, bass guitar, cajon, bodhrán.

Their repertoire includes Scottish, Irish and Breton tunes, among others, and draws on broad inspirations from a variety of musical currents – from inspirations derived from traditional music to rock, punk folk or sung poetry.

DAIR’s musicians are also a collage of different temperaments and personalities, through which the group has developed an interesting and distinctive sound over the years. The name of the band – the word “DAIR” in Old Irish means “oak tree”, and in the language of writer J.R.R Tolkien it means “shadow of a tree”. This is the title of the group’s first album.

Currently, the band is working on more albums, doing joint artistic projects with many musicians, bands and dance groups, such as Sedinum Celticum. DAIR has hosted some of the largest Celtic festivals in Poland – including Dowspuda and Toruń Celtic Gothic. The band also co-organises Irish music sessoions for amateur Irish musicians.
