Introducing the team – Jan Gałczewski

Jan Gałczewski is the Founder of Kraków Celtic Festival.

Jan plays a central role in the development of Celtic and Irish music in Poland.

Jan is a multi-instrumentalist, specialising in Irish bouzouki. He has been involved in the world music scene for over 20 years, playing instruments such as bagpipes, flutes, tenor banjo, guitar, and bouzouki. Co-founder of the Viral Sessions project, which connected hundreds of musicians from around the world, he is also co-organizer of the ZAMEK Festival.

As a member of Beltaine, Jan has recorded 5 studio albums, including Observer (2023), and 2 live albums. The band has won awards such as the Wirtualne Gęśle and the Irish Music Award. Beltaine’s tracks have appeared on prestigious compilations like The Witcher: Inspired and Folk się Gro!

Jan also performs with the band Light Migrations. 

He regularly plays at festivals worldwide, playing in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Malaysia, Scotland, Portugal, Switzerland, and many other countries, promoting Celtic and folk music.

Jan is also an architect, having graduated from the Kraków University of Technology.
